QUALIFICATIONS:        Licensed Teacher and Passing Praxis Score on the AE Assessment #5511

 

REPORTS TO:              Principal and/or other Supervisor

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   190 days

 

                            

Position Summary:

 Provide classroom instruction to students enrolled in an alternative education setting in grades K-2. Reinforce instruction to individual students and small groups in a variety of academic subjects and other learning activities, including implementing personal education plans and behavior plans. Teacher will utilize various behavioral strategies and alternative programs as determined by individual student need.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides supervision of students in educational settings.

Provides small group instruction to students enrolled in an alternative school setting.

Maintains student folders as required by the state Alternative Education division.

Assists in the development and implementation of an individual education service plan for students.

Plans and delivers daily classroom instruction. (At least 51% teacher instruction, less than 49% online, per law.)

Administers student assessments to ascertain academic needs of students enrolled in an alternative setting.

Works collaboratively with school and agency counselors, teachers, administrators, parents and related service providers in the overall educational plan for students to include lessons that address the student’s behavioral needs.

Prepares lesson plans to correlate with student needs.

Maintains student records and files in a confidential manner.(Referrals, placements, progress, transition, etc__-all required forms.)

Keeps accurate documentation regarding student progress, needs, strengths, etc. (i.e. grades, observations, anecdotal records, other related data).

Keeps daily student attendance.

Communicates with parents, teachers, administrators, and related service providers on an as needed basis.

Submits all reports, forms, records and data as requested by the district and/or the Arkansas Department of Education.

Maintains proper certification and attends professional development as required or requested.

Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board, the Superintendent, administrators, certificated and non-certificated personnel, parents, and students.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
